Ethan update

I thought it would be a good idea to update the blog and let everyone know that Ethan is just fine now. He's jumping on the couches, climbing on the counter tops and sliding down the stairs on a big mat with all the energy of a healthy two year old.

Ethans' ride in a Ambulance

It's 9:00 on Monday morning and it has already been a very exciting day. Yesterday Ethan came down with a little cold, slight fever, and tiny cough. At 3:00 am I heard him coughing and crying so I went into his room to give him some water and check on him. He was wheezing, coughing and barely breathing. He was very pale, limp and his lips were slightly blue. I called to Shaun and said, "Ethan is having trouble breathing, come look at him." He rushed right in picked him up and diagnosed him with big words then said call 911 right now. I got on the phone dialed the number and gave them the information and handed the phone to Shaun for the medical stuff. I got dressed ran downstairs, unlocked the door for the EMT called our neighbors on the cell to come over and watch the other two kids so we could go the hospital. Meanwhile upstairs Ethan started throwing up yucky gunk but it helped his breathing so that was good. The firetruck and ambulance were there within 5 minutes to take over. They were very impressed with Ethan PJ's, he just happened to be wearing him firetruck ones. I decided to ride in the ambulance with Ethan and Shaun followed in the car. As soon as we got to the hospital they gave him medicine to drink and medicine to breath in. He had croup. My kids have had coughs and colds lots before but this was a new experience for us. He was such a good little patient. We stayed for around 4 hours for obsertavtions and just got home. My plan is to have a good cry, say a prayer and go to bed.

I'm a person to ya know.

I love looking over my old blog posts, to me it's like flipping through a scrapbook. But that is when I realized everything is about my kids. I'm not saying that they aren't worth reading about but I just wanted people to realize that I do have my own life. So here is some information about me. My calling in church is Activity Girl Leader and I love it. I was called in when Sarah turned 8 last March and it has been lots of fun to spend girl time with her and the 5 other girls in the class. We do lots of cooking and art projects around a gospel theme. My personal hobbies include reading, exercise and cooking. But my favorite is American Sign Language. I've been taking classes for over six years now. My hope is to one day be an interpreter for the Deaf. Right now I satisfy myself by teaching my kids and making them sign back to me. We have silent time to help us practice and no it is not a form of punishment, they really do enjoy it. I start signing to them the day they are born and they are all great little signers. Eventually though they all start talking instead. My next class starts up in February and I'm looking forward to it.
This year I will try to update my blog more and post more picture of myself with the kids. I'm also trying to get more creative with my blog - hence the new color!
